BAN 86/1 at stumps on day-2

DHAKA: Bangladesh, trailing Sri Lanka by 501 runs, were 86/1 in their first innings at stumps on the second day of the second Test in Chittagong on Wednesday.

Bangladesh lost Tamim Iqbal for a duck in the first over. Lakmal bagged the wicket.

According to espncricinfo.com, the day has belonged to Kumar Sangakkara, who recorded his maiden Test triple century. He herded Sri Lanka`s lower order quite brilliantly to post 587 and would have been quite pleased after Suranga Lakmal got one to say low and rattle Tamim Iqbal`s stumps. But since then Imrul Kayes, playing his first Test in over two years, and Shamsur Rahman have counterattacked and took the home side to 86 for 1.

However, both batsmen were lucky as they were dropped in the space of four overs.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka scored 587 runs for all wickets in the first innings on the second day of the test.

Sangakkara and Jayawardene scored 319 and 72 runs respectively.

Shakib Al Hasan bagged five wickets while Nasir Hossain took two wickets. Besides, Al-Amin Hossain, sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each.

Earlier on January 30, Sri Lanka won the first Test against the hosts by innings and 248 runs in Mirpur.
