Proteas arrive in Dhaka for Test series

The South African cricket team, the Proteas, has arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh, ahead of their two-Test series.

Led by Aiden Markram, they landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on October 16, gearing up for their first Test match starting on October 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

This series holds particular importance for South Africa as they aim to strengthen their standing in the World Test Championship. The squad has been strategically composed to handle the spin-friendly conditions of Bangladesh, featuring three key spinners—Keshav Maharaj, Senuran Muthusamy, and Dane Piedt. Despite the focus on spin, their pace attack remains formidable with the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Wiaan Mulder leading the charge.

One of the highlights of the squad is uncapped batter Matthew Breetzke, who could make his Test debut. The team will also rely on experienced players such as Markram, Rabada, and Maharaj to counter the challenges posed by Bangladesh on home soil.

The second Test will be held in Chattogram from October 29 to November 2
