Rangpur Riders beat Sylhet Strikers by 34 runs

Rangpur Riders secured a 34-run victory against Sylhet Strikers in a high-pressure Bangladesh Premier League match in Mirpur.

Riding on key contributions from Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, and Iftikhar Ahmed, Rangpur posted a competitive total of 155 for 6 after recovering from early setbacks.

Sylhet’s chase began poorly, with Kamrul Islam Rabbi dismissing George Munsey in the second over. Zakir Hasan and Rony Talukdar attempted to stabilize the innings with an 18-ball 33-run stand.

However, Nahid Rana’s brilliant spell derailed Sylhet’s momentum. Nahid struck twice in quick succession, removing Zakir and Paul Stirling in the same over.

Rony Talukdar stood firm with a 36-ball 41, building a slow but steady partnership with Zakir Ali. However, Khushdil Shah’s double strike—dismissing Rony and Ariful Haque in consecutive deliveries—left Sylhet reeling.

Nahid Rana’s stellar performance continued as he claimed 4 wickets for 27 runs, ensuring Sylhet Strikers were restricted to 121 for 9. Despite a late push by Zakir Ali, who managed 33 off 24 balls, Sylhet fell short.

Earlier, Rangpur’s innings was anchored by Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten 47 off 42 balls and Nurul Hasan Sohan’s quickfire 41 off 24 balls. The pair rebuilt after a top-order collapse, ensuring a defendable total for Rangpur.

Nahid Rana’s pace and precision proved decisive as Rangpur Riders clinched a well-earned victory, showcasing their bowling strength and resilience under pressure.
