LONDON: England`s World Cup captain Steven Gerrard said there was "no way" he would be calling time on his international career after their miserable run in South Africa.

The 30-year-old midfielder said he would not be following in the footsteps of his Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher in stepping down from England duty.

England`s World Cup campaign ended in a 4-1 defeat to Germany in the second round.

"There is no way I want the disappointment of the Germany game to be my last for England," Gerrard said, according to Liverpool`s website.

"It was such a low and I am determined to do as much as I can to make amends for what happened.

"I expect there to be a lot of changes to the squad and it is up to the manager whether I am selected, but I am going to continue to make myself available for my country."

Gerrard was England`s vice-captain but skippered their World Cup campaign after Rio Ferdinand pulled out of the squad due to injury.

Defender Carragher, who had quit international football, was persuaded to return for the tournament by England manager Fabio Capello.

But despite playing in South Africa, he has now withdrawn himself from the international scene once again.
