American tennis star Emma Navarro etched her name into the record books with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Emiliana Arango in the Merida Open final in Mexico.

The world No. 8 and tournament top seed needed just 55 minutes to secure the second WTA title of her career, maintaining her flawless run without dropping a set.

At 23 years old, Navarro became only the fifth player since 2000 to achieve a ‘double bagel’ in a WTA final. The last player to accomplish this rare feat was Iga Świątek, who dismantled Karolina Plíšková at the 2021 Italian Open.

Other women to have won a final with an identical scoreline include Simona Halep, Agnieszka Radwańska, and Marion Bartoli.

Navarro’s dominant performance was evident in her impeccable serve, winning 76% of points on her first serve and not facing a single break point throughout the match. Her opponent, Colombian world No. 133 Arango, struggled to gain any momentum against Navarro’s relentless play.

In another WTA final on Sunday, world No. 4 Jessica Pegula claimed the ATX Open title in Austin, Texas, defeating fellow American McCartney Kessler 7-5, 6-2 to secure the seventh singles trophy of her career.
