Bangladesh could join WC preparatory tournament

DHAKA: Bangladesh are likely to play a preparation tournament organized by the ICC before the 2015 World Cup, along with Zimbabwe and the four Associate qualifiers - Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland and the UAE - in January in Dubai.

"ICC has sent us such a proposal. We have agreed principally to send our full team, but it needs to be approved by the board," Jalal Yunus, the BCB's media committee chairman, told media, reports the espncrickinfo.com.

"The team management has been positive about sending the team to Dubai. Apparently, the wickets there will be like Australia," said Jalal, the report added.

Bangladesh are not scheduled to play any international fixtures in the months between the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe and the World Cup.

The players are likely to participate in the Dhaka Premier Division before their departure for Australia on January 24.

Zimbabwe Cricket had offered Bangladesh an ODI series in January, but the BCB has not yet approved it.
