Injury rules Irfan out of World Cup

DHAKA: Pakistan left-fast bowler Mohammad Irfan was ruled out of ICC World Cup with a stress fracture of the pelvis, team physiotherapist Brad Robinson said on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s team management will call for a replacement only if the team wins Friday's quarter-final, against Australia in Adelaide.

The fast bowler had a scan on Monday that proved inconclusive and underwent more scans for Tuesday.

Tuesday’s scan confirmed a stress fracture in the pelvis of the bowler.

Robinson, in the statement said. "This injury rules Irfan out of the World Cup."

7-feet-and-1-inch tall Irfan had also missed Pakistan's last Pool game against Ireland due to injuries.
