Julian Fountain becomes Bangladesh Fielding Coach

DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Julien Fountain as the National Team’s Specialist Fielding Coach.

His contract with the BCB will run till the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, according to said an official announcement.

Julien will arrive here on August 19 to kick-start his spell with the Tigers.

Fountain, after the appointment, said that he was looking forward to joining Bangladesh in its search for World Cup 2011 success.

“Bangladesh are a young side who have proved that they are capable of beating the best sides in the world on their day,” he said.

Fountain said Bangladesh would be a “really strong contender” as one of the host nations that is aware of its capability of achieving with the right preparation.

The 40-year old Julien has been in cricket coaching for nearly two decades as a fielding coach for the West Indies, Pakistan and England.

He has recently been a part of the ICC High Performance Program, which looks after the top six associate nations.

He was the first baseball player to coach a senior international cricket team, when he was appointed as Specialist Fielding Coach to the West Indies Cricket Team in South Africa 1998 and again against Australia in 1999.
