Bashundhara Bangladesh Open Rd 3 underway

DHAKA: The third round of the four-day ‘Bashundhara Bangladesh Open-2015’ golf tournament is underway in city’s Kurmitola Golf Club Friday.

Friday’s round started after Akinori Tani (Japan), Josh Younger (Austria), and M dharma (Indian) teed off at the tenth hole at 8:00am simultaneously.

At the same time, Simon Griffiths (England), Lindsay Renolds (Canada), and Giwhan Kim (Korea) together teed off at the first hole.

Country’s top golfer Siddikur Rahman hook his tee shot at the tenth hole at 7:30am while Dulal Hossain, who tops among the home golfers, teed off at the first hole at 9:00am.

However, Mardan Mamat of Singapore took the clubhouse lead after the closing of the second round on Thursday.

Country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group is patronizing the first-ever Asian Tour event in Bangladesh. The tournament began on Wednesday.

A total of 156 golfers, including 31 from home, have taken part at tournament, which has a total of USD 300,000 prize money.

World famous golfers including Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh, Rashid Khan of India, Mardan Mamat of Singapore and Berry Henson of the USA are the main attraction of the tournament.

On May 4, the logo of the tournament was unveiled at a ceremony in city’s Bashundhara International Convention Center in city.

Bashundhara Group signed an agreement with Bangladesh Gold Federation for three years on April 7.
