Rain delays last day’s play

DHAKA: The start of the fifth day’s play of the one-off Test between India and Bangladesh has been delayed on Sunday morning because of rain, leading to a draw for the test.

It was still raining steadily at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Narayanganj till the filling of this report.

Meanwhile, both teams have arrived in the stadium and are awaiting the halt of rainfall.

Earlier on Saturday, the fourth day’s play was called off after the end of over-30.1 in the first session due to heavy showers and a wet outfield.

Bangladesh lost three wickets early in the rain-interrupted one-off test when India declared their first innings before the start of the game on Saturday morning.

However, the rain intervened 10 minutes before the scheduled lunch break.

Bangladesh scored 111 in 30.1 overs and trailed by 351 runs with seven wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Shakib Al Hasan and Imrul Kayes were not out on crease.

Earlier on Friday, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay had scored 173 and 150 to anchor India to 462-6 at stumps on the third day of the test. India followed innings forfeiture on Saturday morning.
