DHAKA: Australia are set to arrive Bangladesh in October for their first Test series against the Tigers in over nine years.

The Aussies will arrive on September 28 to play a three-day warm-up match against the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s XI at Fatullah outside the capital.

Bangladesh is going to host the Australians for two Tests in October, the first series between the two nations since 2006.

Cricket Australia announced Sunday that the Aussies will play two Tests in the coastal city of Chittagong (October 9-13) and the capital Dhaka (October 17-21).

It will be just the third Test series between the two nations and the first since Australia's 2-0 victory in Bangladesh in 2006.

The series has been squeezed in between the one-day component of Australia's tour of the UK, which finishes on September 13, and the Commonwealth Bank Test series against New Zealand, which starts in Brisbane on November 5.



The short Test history between the two nations started in the Australian winter of 2003 when the home side recorded comprehensive innings victories in Darwin and Cairns.

Current Bupa Support Team Head Coach Darren Lehmann and then-skipper Steve Waugh scored centuries in both matches, while leg-spinner Stuart MacGill finished with 17 wickets to be named man-of-the-series.
