DHAKA: Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday assured that the Australia cricket team will be provided with VVIP securities during their visit to Bangladesh.

He is also hopeful about Australia’s visit to Bangladesh to play the two-match Test Series.

The home minister was addressing a press conference after a meeting with the Cricket Australia (CA) delegation, led by its security manager Sean Carroll.

Kamal said he has disclosed the detail of security program to the delegation to be provided to the Australia cricket team.

He hoped the disclosure will satisfy the CA security manager and Australian authority will change their decision over the cricket team’s visit here.

Moreover, Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan Papon, who also took part in the meeting, said it is not that that the team will tour Bangladesh if the Australia delegation says they are satisfied.

They, however, did not say whether they are satisfied, he added.

Papon also said CA and Australia government will take the final decision in this regard.

The BCB president further said it was never unsafe to play cricket in Bangladesh.

The CA delegation did not say what they want about security, he added.

Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Greg Wilcock said they came to talk for the report about team’s security.

He also said he will report the authorities concerned what he has seen about security measures.

“They (the authority) will take the final decision,” he added.

The over one-hour meeting between home minister and Cricket Australia delegation started around 10:45 am at the home ministry in the city.

Reports by the delegation will decide the future of Australia tour to Bangladesh.

Home secretary Mohammad Mojammel Haque Khan, BCB vice-president Mahbub Anam, RAB director general Benazir Ahmed, DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and other concerned high-ups were also present at the meeting.
