Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 145-run

DHAKA: Bangladesh beat the visiting Zimbabwe by 145-run in the first One Day International (ODI) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in city on Saturday.

Tigers took nine Zimbabwe wickets in 36.1-over giving away only 128-run. Another batsman Mutumbami was out with ankle injuries.

Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura won the toss asked Bangladesh to bat first in the day-night match.

The hosts scored 273-run in their allocated 50-over. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 107-run off 109-ball, his fourth ODI century.

Sabbir Rahman took 57-run, his top score in ODIs, Tamim Iqbal’s 40-run helped Bangladesh amass the fighting score.

T Muzarabani and Sikandar Raza took two wickets each, and LM Jongwe and T Panyangara took one wicket each while Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman and Arafat Sunny ran themselves out.

In response to hosts’ 273-run, Zimbabwe lost nine wickets to score 128-run in 36.1-over. Mutumbami did out come out to bat for his ankle injuries.

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hunted his five wickets in ODIs.  Captain Mashrafe Mortaza took two wickets while another pacer Al-Amin Hossain and Nasir Hossain grabbed one wicket each.

Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged Man of the Match.

In spite of creating several chances new Tiger pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman couldn’t take wickets.
