DHAKA: Defending Champion Sri Lanka have beat Afghanistan by six wickets with seven balls to spare in the 16th Match of Super 10 Group 1 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata of India on Thursday (March 17).

Winning the toss, Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai chose to bat first with the hope to cause an upset in the match.

Afghans scored a challenging 153-run losing seven wickets from their 20-over quota.

Asghar Stanikzai hit a blazing 62-run innings off 47-ball. Besides, Samiullah Shenwari took 31-run off 14-ball and Noor Ali Zadran scored20 runs.

NLTC Perera picked three Afghan wickets while HMRKB Herath took two and KMDN Kulasekara and A Mathews took one wicket each.

In response, Sri Lanka eased past the target scoring 155-run losing four wickets from 18.5-over.

TM Dilshan played a brilliant innings of 83-run off 56-ball. Besides, Angelo Matthews played a cameo of 21-run off 10-ball. LD Chandimal and NLTC Perera scored 18 and 12 runs respectively.

Of the Afghan bowlers, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan took one wicket each while NLTC Perera and CK Kapugedera ran themselves out.

Tillakaratne Dilshan was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match winning knock.
