DHAKA: Host New Zealand won the three-match one day international (ODI) series in advance by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead against Bangladesh.

The blackcaps beat the visiting Bangladesh by 67 runs in the second match at Saxton Oval, Nelson on Thursday (December 29).

Batting first, Kiwi batsmen scored 251-run losing all wickets in their 50-over quota. 

Neil Broom scored a well-made 109-run while L Ronchi, JDS Neesham and TWM Latham amassed 35, 28 and 22 runs respectively.

Mashrafe Mortaza picked up three wickets while Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each. Besides, Mosaddek Hossain and debutant Subashis Roy took one wicket each.

In response, Bangladesh managed to score 184-run losing all wickets in 42.4-over.

At one stage, Bangladesh was cruising to 105 for 1. The run-out of Sabbir Rahman turned things around as they lost their last nine wickets for 79 runs.

Imrul Kayes scored 59-run while Sabbir Rahman and debutant Nurul Hasan Sohan amassed 38 and 24 runs.

Earlier in the day, Tiger captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to field first in the all-important match.

This was a must-win match for the visiting Bangladesh as they conceded 77-run loss in the first match.
