Australian spinner Steve O'Keefe quizzed chief selector of Cricket Australia Trevor Hohns over his replacement by Ashton Agar in the upcoming Test tour Bangladesh.

O'Keefe is shattered by his demotion from the 13-man squad for two Tests beginning in August, just months after his 19 wickets at an average of 23.26 against India, including 12 wickets in the first Test at Pune through a mix of spin and sliding deliveries.

Reports said that O'Keefe questioned Hohns as to why Agar, also a left-arm finger spinner, had been given the nod.

O'Keefe recited Agar's career figures, where he has 114 wickets at a modest average of 40.24 with the ball in 44 first-class matches and two wickets at 124 in two Tests.

O'Keefe has 244 wickets at 23.7 in 70 first-class matches, and 33 wickets at 27.3 in eight Tests.

However, Cricket Australia recently announced a squad of 13 players for Australia’s upcoming tour in Bangladesh.

The Aussies will play the 2-match series against the Tigers here.

Steve Smith will lead the Australia team where David Warner will be the Vice captain.

The Australia team will arrive in Bangladesh on August 18.

A warm-up match will be played at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah of Narayanganj on August 22-23.

On August 27, the first test will kick-off at Mirpur stadium.

The second and final test will be played at Chittagong on September 4-8.

Among the key players, Mitchell Starc will also dropped the tour.

Australia Test squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Pat Cummins, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, James Pattinson, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Wade
