FROM MIRPUR: Visiting Australian cricketers faced tremendous pressure after they started batting against tigers on the first day of the first Test in Dhaka on Sunday (Aug 27).

In response to Bangladesh’s 260, Aussies managed to score 18 runs in nine overs after loosing three wickets to tigers in the first day. Australia will continue the battle in the second day with the goal of 261 runs.

Bangladesh today bundled out for 260 while facing the controlled Australian bowling. Though Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan both were able to hit fifties, the rest of the team could not respond in a subtle manner.

Winning the toss, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim opted to bat first, but bowler Cummins destroyed the top order in first four overs. Opener Soumya Sarkar could only manage eight to become Cummins’ first victim, while both Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman failed to score a single run.

Bangladesh batted first against visiting Australia in the 1st test of two-match test series, at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur of Dhaka.

Tiger test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and decided to bat first. Tamim Iqbal and Somuya Sarkar were sent as opening pairs.
