DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in place of Mushfiqur Rahim, also known as Mister Dependable, who was the captain of the test squad for six years.

Moreover, Mahmudullah Riyad has been made vice-captain, replacing previous vice-captain Tamim Iqbal.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement after the board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday evening (Dec 10).

Papon said, “We have decided to change the test squad captain. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad will perform as captain and vice-captain starting from the upcoming Sri Lanka serious.” 

With this announcement, Shakib regained his captain status that he lost in 2011. Mushfiqur Rahim was made captain after the poor performance of Shakib on Sep 20 in 2011 during the Zimbabwe series. On the other hand, Mashrafe Bin Murtaza has been made captain of ODI and T-20 cricket in 2014.
