DHAKA: Tiger opening batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy touched the milestone of fastest 1000 ODI scorer of Bangladesh.
He returned in the game after nearly 3 years of break.
Anamul confirmed the record while playing the 3rd ODI of the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka, at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur Friday (January 19).
The record sets him beside Bangladesh’s once-dashing opener Shahriar Nafees. The record was on possession of Nafees for long 11 years.
Nafees and Anamul are the only two cricketers of Bangladesh to hold the record of fastest 1000 runs. Both of them have to play 29 innings respectively for this.
On Friday, Anamul reached the record by hitting a boundary against the visiting Lankans.
He ended the batting after collecting 35 runs.
Shahriar Nafees made the quickest run record against Zimbabwe, at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna in 2006.
