DHAKA: Veteran West Indies batsman Gordon Greenidge, under whose guidance Bangladesh won the ICC Trophy in 1997, is coming to Dhaka Sunday (May 13).

Gordon Greenidge, who was given the prestige of an honorary citizen in Bangladesh, will come here on a 5-day tour to meet his former colleagues of Bangladesh cricket.

BCB Working Committee Chief Enayet Hossain Siraj confirmed the news to Banglanews Saturday (May 12).

Gordon Greenidge is now staying in Malaysia, for personal purpose. He has a met there with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) former CEO Syed Ashraful Haque.
He expressed his interest to visit Bangladesh while talking with Syed Ashraful Haque. Afterwards, Ashraful talked about the matter to BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon. 

Greenidge is scheduled to arrive here on Sunday evening. 

In his honor, a dinner party will be hosted at Sonargaon Hotel, on Monday (May 14). Former and present BCB cricketers will attend the dinner.

In 2001, Greenidge gave a reception to the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in Barbados when the Tigers were playing Boosta Cup in West Indies.

However, Greenidge became the coach of the Bangladesh cricket team in 1997 and was dismissed in 1999. Being a first-class Barbadian cricketer, he played Tests and ODIs for 17 years for West Indies.
