Chittagong Vikings may miss BPL season-VI Chittagong Vikings old squad

DHAKA: Chittagong Vikings most probably won’t be seen playing in the sixth season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) scheduled on January 2019.

BPL officials said they are trying utmost to make the franchise return to the tournament.

“Yes, they have mailed us informing of not participating in BPL anymore,” BPL Governing committee acting chairman Sheikh Sohel told Banglanews Monday (October 1).

“Yet, we are waiting for the proprietor of the team. They accompanied us over each of the last 5 years. We hope they will accept our request,” he added expecting to make Chittagong Vikings back.

It was surmised that Chittagong Vikings are planning an exit from the league as they didn’t submit the Player Retention list even after the deadline has crossed.

All the teams playing in BPL were directed to submit the list within Sept 30.

However, Sheikh Sohel said he doesn’t think any new franchise will be possible to be managed and in that case, the tournament will be arranged with six teams.

However, the sixth season of BPL is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2019.
