DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has pledged to take initiative for making homes for the girls who won the SAFF Under-18 Women’s Championship title.
The premier came up with the announcement during a cabinet meeting at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Monday (October 8).
Sheikh Hasina also congratulated the team for the victory.
Sheikh Hasina said, “Our girls are doing very well in football. It's a great achievement. Our girls have done very well in this tournament. I know about family status of these players. Their economic condition is not good. They are children from the labor class. I'll make homes in their respective residences. I have already made an order to make Salwar-Kamiz for them. They will also be given much better clothes.”
She also urged the ministers to help these female footballers.
Bangladesh clinched SAFF Under-18 Women’s Championship title by defeating Nepal 1-0 in the final at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu of Bhutan on Sunday (October 7).
