DHAKA: The ICC Cricket World Cup trophy arrived in Dhaka Wednesday (Oct 17) for a four-day tour in Bangladesh, giving cricket fans here the opportunity to see the trophy in person.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Selector and former skipper of the national team Minhajul Abedin Nannu unveiled the trophy at a ceremony at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, at 11:20am.

A group of deprived children took part in a photo-session with the much coveted trophy, under supervision of UNICEF.

National cricket team players are expected to attend another photo-session with the trophy.

The trophy will later be displayed at Jamuna Future Park on Oct 18, at Sylhet National Cricket Stadium on Oct 19 and in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Oct 20.

The ICC trophy is currently on a world tour and is expected to pass through 60 cities from 21 countries across the globe. It will fly in Nepal after leaving Bangladesh.  

England and Wales will host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 scheduled to be played from 30 May to 14 July 2019.

The first match will be played at The Oval while the final will be played at Lord's. It is the fifth time that the Cricket World Cup will be held in England and Wales.
