DHAKA: Bangladesh ODI Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza may miss the upcoming series with visiting West Indies due to electioneering for the national polls.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon thinks the pacer’s possibility is very low to take part in the series to be started from Nov 22.
“It can’t be said that Mashrafe will not play in the West Indies series. But, the possibility is very low. Because, (he has) taken nomination form (for the election); its not sure whether he will get nomination; will contest (in the election) if get (the nomination). In that case, the possibility is very low to play in the West Indies series” he said.
There is no confusion that Mashrafe will lead the Bangladesh squad in 2019 ICC World Cup, according to Papon.
However, the popular cricketer is joining the race 11th parliamentary polls from Narail-2 constituency, from ruling Awami League.
He has collected the nomination form on Nov 11.
