CHATTOGRAM: Spinners helped Bangladesh beat the visiting West Indies by 64 runs in their first Test of a two-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Saturday (Nov 24).
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were bowled out for 125 with Mahmudullah Riyad the last man to fall as the Tigers lost the remaining five wickets in 18 overs.
Devandra Bishoo ended with figures of four for 26 as Bangladesh struggled on the third day. Roston Chase bagged three wickets. Bangladesh's lead stood at 203 runs.
In reply, the visitors lost all wickets to score 139 runs.
West Indies from the beginning faced deep trouble losing four wickets in 5.5 overs before lunch as Shakib Al Hasan struck twice and Taijul Islam bagged two as well.
Shakib Al Hasan bagged his 200th Test wicket as Kieran Powell went down the wicket but was beaten by the flight as Mushfiqur Rahim took off the bails.
Moreover, he became the fastest cricketer to reach the milestone of 200 wickets and 3000 runs simultaneously.
Taijul in total picked up six wickets while Shakib took three wickets to make the tasks easy in the first Test.
Mominul Haque became ‘Player of the Match’ for the 120-run knock in 1st innings.
