DHAKA: Bangladesh beat West Indies by five wickets in the first One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh at Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur of the capital on Sunday (December 9).
In response to the 196-run target set by the visiting West Indies, the Tigers reached the destination by loosing five wickets in 35.1 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 55 runs off 70 balls while Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan took 41 and 30 runs respectively.
Earlier in the day, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat. They scored 195 runs for 9 in the stipulated 5o overs.
Windies batsmen Shai Hope (43 off 59), Keemo Paul (36 off 28) and Roston Chase (32 off 38) managed to set the responsible target for the host and saved the team from deep trouble.
It was the 200th ODI match for Tigers’ captain Mashrafe Mortaza. And he was adjudged player of match for bagging three important wickets of Shai Hope, Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell.
Besides, Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain picked up one each.
