The Melbourne Renegades have claimed their first Big Bash League title after a stunning collapse from crosstown rivals the Melbourne Stars at Docklands Stadium.
Having restricted the Renegades to just 5-145 in the first innings, the Stars were crusing to victory at 0-93 in the 13th over, only for the dismissal of Marcus Stoinis (39) to trigger one of the most staggering collapses in BBL history.
In the space of 30 balls, the Stars lost seven wicket for 19 runs to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
“If the Stars lose from here, I don’t think they’ll ever win it,” Shane Warne said on Fox Cricket when the Stars were still only four down. “This was the unlosable game.”
