DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled jersey for National Cricket Team for upcoming World Cup in England and Wales.
Among 15 players of the World Cup squad, 14 players were present in the jursey unveiling programme. Shakib Al Hasan was absent.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon expressed his dissatisfaction over the matter.
Papon handed over the World Cup jersey to tigers’ captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the unveiling ceremony of the jersey at the home of cricket in Mirpur on Monday (April 29).
In reply to a question about his absence at the programme, BCB chief said, "Sad, what would I say? It's tragic, as it was the team’s photo-shoot.”
Shakib returned home Sunday (April 28) after playing his last match for Sunrisers’ Hyderabad in the IPL.
The BCB chief said, "I do not think there is any adverse reaction in the team for the absence of Shakib in the photo-shoot,"
I think other team members have been habituated with the situation. Anyway, what else should I say? I think this is unlucky for Shakib. The team is going to play World Cup but he couldn’t presence with it. I think it’s bad luck for Shakib.”
Curtain of the ICC Cricket World Cup will be unveiled on May 30. Bangladesh will play their first match against South Africa on June 2.
