Afghans given bitter English lesson

England 161/1 in 17.3 overs (Jason Roy 89*, Johny Bairstow 39, Joe Root 29) beat Afghanistan 160 (Mohammad Nabi 44, Noor Ali Zadran 30, Joe Root 3/22, Jofra Archer 3/32) by 9 wickets

Afghanistan were given bitter English lesson when they were blown away by 9 wickets by fiery England in the second warm up match of the respective team.

All Afghans could master was 160 all out in 38.4 overs. Very strong English batting coasted the team to victory in only 17.3 overs scoring 161/1. England won by 9 wickets. Jofra Archer (3/30) and Joe Root (3/22) were the bowling heroes taking 3 wickets each.

None of the Afghans other than Mohammad Nabi (40) and Noor Ali Zadran (30) had any clue to English bowling. When England batted much vaunted Afghan bowling was collared by Jason Roy (89*), Bairstow (39). Joe Root remained unbeaten on 29. England lost its first warm up match to their arch rival Australia.

Afghans won against Pakistan. On a wicket where part time Englishman Joe root with his spin proved a difficult bowler much famed Rashid Khan and Nabito hardly create any impression. Afghans need to bat much better and put up competitive scores regularly giving their bowlers cushion for the contest.

Batting first Afghans ran into trouble against very potent English attack spearheaded by West Indian pace import Jofra Archer and Own Chris Woakes. By 25th over Afghans were tottering by 8/92 and were looking through the barrel. Mohammad Nabi (40) and Dawlat Jadran (20*) rallied to take the score to 160.

No teams can expect creating any contest with such a small target. Yet Rashid Khan and Nabi were expected to test English batsmen. But, Flamboyant English batsmen Jason Roy blasted unbeaten 89 with 11 fours and 4 sixes.

Bairstow was the only batsman out scoring 39 in 22 deliveries striking 7 fours and a six. Joe Root remained not out on 29.  Nabi got the only wicket. England sprinted across the rope in 17.3 overs.  Hope Afghans will learn a lot from this bitter English lesson.
