DHAKA: Jason Roy has been hit with his second fine of the World Cup, having unleashed a foul-mouthed tirade at an umpire while marching England to victory over Australia, but the in-form opener is in no doubt of missing Sunday's final through suspension.

Roy top-scored in England's eight-wicket win in the semi-final, passing 50 for the third consecutive time since returning from a hamstring injury.

However, the knock of 85 was marred by an uncontrollable fit of indignant rage directed at umpire Kumar Dharmasena.

Roy fumed after being wrongly given out caught behind, with replays confirming his bat was nowhere near the bouncer delivered by Pat Cummins.

Roy called for a review - despite opening partner Jonny Bairstow having already wasted the team's one referral - then animatedly attempted to push his case with both Dharmasena and Marais Erasmus.

The 28-year-old eventually accepted his marching orders but continued to vent, seemingly describing the incorrect decision as a "f****g" embarrassment.

Roy was given two demerit points, equalling the heaviest penalty for dissent handed down since the International Cricket Council (ICC) adopted its current system in 2016, and fined 30 per cent of his match fee.

Roy has now collected three demerit points at the event. He was booked for an audible obscenity during a clash with Pakistan and fined 15 per cent of that match fee.

Four demerit points results in an automatic ban. 

"I was on the toilet, ironically. So I've heard what happened, but I can't imagine he would be [at risk of being suspended]," England captain Eoin Morgan said, when asked about the incident on Thursday.

Roy's rant at Dhamarsena was roundly criticised by commentator Ian Healy, with the former Australian wicketkeeper suggesting he would be lucky to be playing in the final.

"He's going to be worse on Saturday night when he gets suspended for the final," Healy said.

"That's no good. That was a thing called dissent in our day. He has openly argued with an umpiring decision then carried it on right the way through the pavilion. He's in trouble."

Healy's commentary colleague, former Australian captain Mark Taylor said it would be "a tough one for the match referee".

"That's absolute dissent."

Meanwhile, Morgan was keen to keep a lid on things after England stormed into their first World Cup final in 27 years.
