Dream XI IPL T20, 2020

Played at Abu Jayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE
CSK 165/5 in 19.2 Overs (AT Rayudu 71, F du Plessis 58, TA Boult 1/23, JL Pattinson 1/27) beat MI 162/9 in 20 overs  ( SS Tiwary 42, Q de Cock 33, L Ngidi 3/38, DL Chahar 2/32, R A Jadeja 2/42)by 5 wickets
Player of the Match: AT Rayadu

Much talked about IPL 2020 took up at Abu Jayed stadium at Abu Dhavi with MS Dhoni led Chennai Super King (CSK) rocking champions of 2019 Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets.

Asked to bat after losing the toss MI could score 162/9 in allotted overs. CSK riding on 116 runs third wicket partnership between Ambati Rayadu (71) and Faf du Plesis (58) cruised to 5 wickets victory scoring 165/5 in 19.2 overs.
There were discussions that world crickets cash cow BCCI influenced ICC in suspending ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia and Asia Cup 2020 in Sri Lanka to facilitate IPL 2020. India is the second worst COVID -19 affected country. IPL 2020 is being staged in three stadiums of UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhavi and Sarja) observing a bit relaxed bio security bubble. However, the usual Bollywood flavored opening ceremony was not held. The cheerleaders were not there.

MSD playing any type of competitive cricket after a while won the toss and invited MI to bat on a sluggish wicket. MI openers Rohit and Q de Cock were off to a rollicking start blasting 46 by the 5th over when Chawla and Curran put brakes on MI progress sending them back in quick succession. Smart MSD marshaling his resources with passion restricted MI to 162/9 in 20 0vers. None but SS Tiwary (42) and Q de Cock (33) could produce a score of significance. South African L Ngidi (3/38), D Chahar ( 2/32 ) and RA Jadeja (2/42) were the peak of the bowlers.

Chasing 163 on the slow easy paced wicket was not a big deal. But CSK start was disastrous. Both the openers Vijay and Watson were removed within the first two overs with scoreboard showing 2/5. This brought in Rayadu and du Plessis together for setting up a match defining 116 runs 3rd partnership. Rayadau scored 71 in 48 deliveries striking 6 fours and 3 sixes. du Plessis scored 58. CSK scoring 165/5 in 19.2 overs won the match by 5 wickets. This win in the single leg tournament will definitely put CSK in comfortable position.
