Player Of The Match: Jos Buttler
An Anglo Australian Nexus Buttler and Smith unbeaten partnership of 98 runs winning for Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets against Chennai Super Kings in a low scoring match kept RR dreams alive in IPL 2020.
Batting first CSK made Abu Dhabi wicket looking like a minefield as they could manage only 125/5 in allotted overs. RR stumbled a bit at the start getting reduced to 3/28 by the 5th over. But Australian Captain SPD Smith (26*) and English blaster JC Buttler (70*) joined hands to tide RR across turbulent sea. Producing unbeaten 98 they won big by 7 wickets. RR is now 5th on the point’s table just behind the top four. CSK is now at the bottom of the table.
On a dry low gripping wicket in a low scoring match Royals of Rajasthan roasted the Super Kings of Chennai like Bombay Ducks in the lone match of IPL 2020 yesterday at Abu Dhabi. Batting first tentative CSK batsmen made the wicket look like minefield as they could post well below par 125/5 in-allotted overs. It was unpardonable pathetic batting display leaving almost half of batsmen in the dugout. The top order miserably failed to set a platform. These days MSD lost his flair, his aggressive helicopter shot is rarely on display. Yet Dhoni (24) and Jadeja (35*) could give some sort of respectability to CSK innings. All RR bowlers bowled tight on the right channel and fielders looked very sharp and willing. 125 was about 35-40 runs short even on such wicket.
Yet in the beginning, CSK bowlers, especially Chahar (2/16) rocked, reducing RR to 3/28 by the 5th over. Stokes, Uthappa and Samson were perished. Australian maestro SPD Smith shouldered RR and English blaster went merry on his own flamboyant self. The Anglo Australian nexus batting with perfect blend of care and aggression produced a match winning unbeaten 98 runs 4th wicket partnership. Buttler remained unbeaten on 70 playing 48 deliveries. His innings contained 7 fours and 2 sixes. Smith held the innings together remaining not out on 24 accumulated in 36 deliveries. RR pushed CSK to the bottom of the table through elevating themselves to 5th position just below the top four.
After two high voltage two tied matches on the previous day decided in super overs yesterday's match was sort anticlimax.
