Reigning champions Mumbai Indians triggering Tsunami drowned Super Kings of Chennai.
The CSK set target of 115 was swept across with ease and comfort as the openers Ishan Kishan (68*) and Q de Kock (46*) cruised past in style. MI consolidated position on the top of the table. The mission of CSK on the other hand seems all but over.
Batting first CSK encountered a surge from resurging Boult (4/18) and Bumrah (2/25) as wickets kept tumbling right from the start. Fall of wickets 1/0, 2/3, 3/3,4/3, 5/21,6/30, 7/43,8/71 speaks it all. By the end of the first power play reduced CSK to 5/21. The batsmen of CSK had no answer to devastating bowling of Kiwi and Indian pace duo complemented by leggie Chahal. However, in the ruins young English all-rounder Sam Curran scoring 52 only stood like the rock of Gibralter.
On a wicket where MI bowlers shocked and awed CSK bowlers were treated like back street boys as Ishan Kishan (68*) and Q de Kock (46*) raced to 116 /0 in only 12.2 overs. Young Kishan chose the occasion posting a very impressive unbeaten 68 in 37 deliveries striking 6 fours and 5 sixes. Q de Kock was little restrained compared to Kishan. For his unbeaten 46 he also consumed 37 deliveries scoring 5 fours and 2 sixes.
This huge win took MI to the top of the pack with 14 points from 10 matches. DC and RCB are at 2nd and 3rd having also 14 points. CSK with 6 points from 11 matches is at the rock bottom. MS Dhoni fans must be feeling sad for their hero.
