Dream 11 IPL 2020, 1st Qualifier
Mumbai Indians (MI) VS Delhi Capitals (DC)
Played at DSC, Dubai on 5 November, 2020

Brief Scorecard:
MI 200/5 (Ishan Kishan 55*, SA Yadav 51, D de Kock 40, HH Pandya 37*, R Ashwin 3/29) beat DC 143/8 (MP Stoinis 65 and AR Patel 42, JJBumrah 4/14, TA Boult 2/9) by 57 Runs.

Player of The Match: Jasprit Bumrah.

Firing from all cylinders reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) raced to yet another IPL final crashing sorry looking Delhi Capitals to a 57 runs huge defeat yesterday at DSC Dubai. On a day when world was being entertained from humors’ of possibly fallen US President Donald Trump the first IPL 2020 qualifier proved to be an anticlimax. Absolutely dominated by MI the match could hardly create the tension and excitement that such a match deserved. It was an absolute one-way traffic with prolific MI batsmen dominating and then vey penetrative MI bowlers decimating DC batsmen to total submission.  Apart from Rohit Sharma failing once again living up to his prolific reputation MI batsmen rallied scoring an imposing 200/5 having put into bat. Then Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah within the first four overs rocked DC to 4/20 bowling at pace and on target. Only a flamboyant 65 by Aussie all-rounder and some resistance by Axer Patel (42) led DC reaching 143/8. MI will by 57 runs rocketed to yet another final of IPL mega show. It could be still more miserable for DC had not Boult pulled his hamstring after his second over. DC will now have to play the winner of RCB and SRH for another crack against MI in the final.

Mumbai Indians in the opinion of cricket admirers have all ends covered. They have quality batsmen adept to all conditions from opening to seven who can deliver when called upon. Then they have four great pacers, some quality all-rounders' for defending whatever batsmen leave for them. The way Boult and Bumrah bowled yesterday amply evidenced that MI did a favor to SRH leaving them to rest in the previous match.

Anyway, MI was asked to bat yesterday by DC Captain S Iyer. Australian D Sams opened the attack along with R Ashwin instead of usual Rabada taking the new ball. While that tricks worked against Rohit still feeling his way in after recovering from an injury. Sams looked very ordinary. Q de Kock (40) and SA Yadab (51) set a good foundation producing 62 runs second wicket partnership as Rabada and Nortje could not repeat what they did all along during this tournament. Ashwin struck third blow removing free stroking Pollard before he could open his account. At 4/101 in the 13th over DC looked in control. But young Ishan Kishan (55*) and HH Pandya (37*) blasting 60 runs in 3.5 overs took the game away from the DC grasp. Pandya fired into 37 not out in only 14 deliveries striking 5 sixes. Kishan produced unbeaten 55 in 30 with four fours and three huge sixes. None but R Ashwin (3/29) looked at all impressive with the ball. Otherwise very successful Rabada ((0/42) and Nortje (1/50) remaining ineffective failed to bring DC into the contest.200/5 for a knock out is a very steep target especially against a strong MI attack.

The possibility of a contest was blown away within the first four overs of two of the rock and roll fast bowling combination Kiwi Trent Boult and Indian Idol Jasprit Bumrah decimating DC to 4/20 by the 4th over. In fact, Shaw, Dhawan and Rahane all scored dreadful ducks. Unfortunately for MI Boult developed groin injury and left after his second over. Otherwise it could be still more embarrassing for DC. Australian all-rounder M Stoinis alone stood like Rock of Gibraltar, as Iyer and Pant also did not deliver. Stoinis scoring 65 in 46 deliveries and Axer Patel producing 42 in 33 gave some respectability to DC innings. They could reach 143/8 by the end of their quota of overs losing by huge 57 runs. Jasprit Bumrah taking 4/14 consolidated his position as the top wicket taker of the tournament. MI will have to sweat on the injury of Trent Boult as the will stay for the finalist from among RCB, SRH and DC. We are not sure DC can beat the winner of RCB and SRH if they not vastly improve their all-round display.
