Gazi Group Chattogram 117/3 (Liton K Das 40, Mohammad Mithun 34, Soumya Sarkar 27) beat Beximco Dhaka 116 All Out in 20 Overs
(Mushfiqur Rahim 25, Al Amin 25, Yasir Ali 24, Mustafizur Rahman 3/32, Shoriful Islam 2/17) by 7 wickets
Player of the match: Mustafizur Rahman
Back in his brilliant best Mustafizur Rahman in lethal combination with Shoriful Islam crushed Beximco Dhaka to 116. Then inform Liton (40) and Mohammad Mithun (34) led Chattogram cruise past Dhaka reaching the final against Khulna scoring 117/3 in 19.1 Overs.
If one asks about the most consistent team of the tournament the answer would be Chattogram. If one asks about the most consistent performers of the tournament the answer has to be Mustafiz with the ball and Liton K Das with the bat. When these two fires in the same match win becomes a matter of the time. Chattogram as the best prepared team of the tournament stormed into the final of Bangabandhu T20 Cup Tournament winning by 7 wickets. They will play star studded Chattogram on 18th December after nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of Glorious Victory Day on 16th December.
Dhaka on the day of second qualifier could not manage the lethal combination of Mustafiz (3/32) and Shoriful Islam (2/17). The experiment of Mushfique sending a new opening partnership of Mukhtar Ali and Sabbir Rahman misfired as both were back in the hut by the 4th over with only 19 on the scorecard. Mustafiz did not appear at the scene till then. Fizz appearing with his accuracy and subtle variation of pace accounted for Yasir Ali (24) and Al Amin (25) breaking the backbone of Dhaka batting. Before that Mosaddeq got rid of Mushfique before his budding innings (25) could bloom. Dhaka mail did never get the momentum as they produced well below par 116 all out. Yet again Mustafiz and Shoriful proved the best bowling combination of the tournament so far.
All are aware that Liton and Soumya have so far rocked and rolled as the better than the most opening batsmen in the tournament. Yesterday as well they were in great touch racing to 44 in the partnership before a mix up cost Soumya (27) getting run out. Liton (40) and captain Mithun 57 for the 2nd wicket ensured that there was no drama in the hunt for wins. Chattogram cruised past Dhaka scoring 117/3.
Chattogram would meet Khulna in the final on December 18. We believe none would argue that two better prepared and better performing evenly matched teams of the tournament deservedly reached the final.
