New Zealand VS Pakistan T20 International Series
2nd T20 Match Played at Hamilton on 20 December 2020
Brief Scorecard:
New Zealand 164/1 in 19.2 Overs (Tim Seifert 84*, KS Williamson 57*) beat Pakistan 163/6 (Mohammad Hafiz 99*, Mohammad Rizwan 22, Tim Southee 4/ 21) by 9 Wickets.
Player of the Match: Tim Southee
The relentless Paki bashing of the Kiwis continued as New Zealand wrapped the T20 International series avalanching them by 9 wickets in the day night match at Hamilton yesterday. Batting first veteran “Prof Hafiz” (99*) fondly called in Pakistan cricket spearheaded Pakistan challenge as one others could withstand the very strong and incisive Kiwi attack (Southee, Bolt, Jamieson, Kugliljn) . New Zealand cakewalked the win as they cruised past scoring 164/1 and winning big by 9 wickets with 4 balls to spare.
Pakistan innings had very little to note excepting the high quality aggressive batting by veteran Hafiz when wickets were falling around him like a pack of cards. Southee swung prodigiously making life for Pakistanis extremely difficult surviving. His 4/21 run razor sharp knife though melting butter likes Pakistan batting. Had not Hafiz struck 10 fours and 5 sixes in his unfinished innings of 99 the score could be still miserable. His innings was also aided by few miss chances. None other than Hafiz unfortunately the quality and skill to confront very penetrative Kiwi attack. Absence of injured captain Babar Azam left a deep hole in Pakistan batting. They did not look at all competitive in the match.
In reply New Zealand had virtually no trouble at all in confronting Pakistan quality pace attack of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan. Unbeaten 129 runs 2nd wicket partnership between new comer wicket keeper batsman Seifert (84*) and champion Kiwi captain Williamson (57*) made it cake walk for them.
New Zealand Cricket now is looking great in all formats. They now possess a great all round team with so many options in batting and bowling. Along side of quality established professionals several promising budding young players are emerging. Future is looking great for the Kiwis.
