BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been discharged from the Apollo hospital in Kolkata this morning (Jan 31). 

The former India captain is understood to be in a stable condition after he underwent a second angioplasty and has been advised for complete rest for a few weeks.

The former India captain underwent a second round of angioplasty, on Thursday, and two stents were inserted inside his artery for existing blockages.

In less than 3 weeks after Sourav Ganguly was discharged (January 7) from the Apollo hospital, earlier this month, the 48-year-old former cricketer was admitted to the Apollo hospital for the 2nd time in January. Ganguly was admitted to the hospital for the second time this month after he complained of chest discomfort on Wednesday, January 27.

"Sourav Ganguly, 48 years old, male has come for a checkup of his cardiac condition. There is no change in his parameters since his last hospitalization and his vital parameters are stable," the Kolkata hospital had said earlier.

Earlier on Thursday, doctors who were monitoring Ganguly's heath confirmed the situation was 'not alarming'. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also paid a visit to Ganguly, at the Apollo hospital, to check on the cricketer's health, on Thursday, after the procedure.

Ganguly was diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries, when he was admitted for the first time on January 2, and had a stent implanted in his right coronary artery then. Ganguly had spent five days at the Apollo hospital before he was discharged on January 7.
