New Zealand Won The Series 3-2
Player Of The Match: Martin Guptill
Player Of The Series : Ish Sodhi

Vintage Martin Guptill producing yet another sparkling innings of 71 clinically dispatched Tasman Cousins Australia in the 5th match of the ODI series at Basin Reserve. Winning by 7 wickets Black Caps won the series 3-2. Batting first Australia could post a below par 142/8. New Zealand stormed past the target scoring 143/3 with 27 balls to spare.

New Zealand won the first match very comfortably. The second match also they won but only just taking a 2-0 lead. The matches were transferred safe Wellington after Corona lock down at scheduled venue at Auckland. Australia bounced back, winning back-to-back matches in Wellington back to back making it 2-2.

Australia winning the toss decided to bat. Right from the outset New Zealand bowlers bowled with a purpose and fielded brilliantly.  Only Wade 44, Flinch 36 and Stoinis 26 could produce innings of substance. 142/8 was not a score to create contest against New Zealand desperate for winning yet another series, Ish Sodhi (3/24) Trent Boult (2/26) and Tim Southee 2/38) shared the wickets among them.

After two misfired batting performance in the previous two matches New Zealand changed opening partnership promoting new champion batsman Conway opening with dynamic Guptill. That worked. This pair knocked off 106 by the 12th over. Conway left after scoring 36. Glittering Guptill produced yet another stroke full innings of 71 comprising of 7 fours and 4 sixes. New Zealand cruised to victory target scoring 143/3 in 15.4 overs as Glen Phillips also produced an innings of unbeaten 34.

Before the series Martin Guptill was going through a very unusual lean patch. It was a great relief that the premiere black cap batsman recovered his brilliant form. Ish Sodhi the x-factor is now a great addition to black cap armory of match winning bowling attack.

TEAM TIGERS MUST HAVE SEEN THE SERIES AND WORKED OUT THE STRATEGY.
