Sri Lanka Leads by 153 Runs with 6 Second Innings wicket at hand.

The absorbing test match between two exciting teams West Indies and Srilanka has proved yet again why test cricket remains the most aristocratic love ever format of world cricket. West Indies at stumps of day two took a commanding first innings lead of 99 with two wickets at hand. Batting exceedingly well in the second innings Sri Lanka not only wiped out the deficit but also surged ahead taking a lead of 153 with 6 second innings wickets at hand. If they can get up to 350 plus lead the test would turn into an intriguing contest. At stumps Lankans are at 255/4.  This test is of great interest to Bangladesh as Bangladesh will soon play two tests against Sri Lanka.

West Indies expected to extend the lead further when they resumed batting in the morning of day three. But Fernando making double strikes took no time to wrap up West Indies innings at 271 all out.

Sri Lankan second innings also got shocked and awed as Roach rocked yet again removing Karunaratne for 3 in the 5th over. But fighting against the wall Thrimanne and Oshada Fernando clawed back into the match. First the deficit was wiped out and they proceeded to build the lead played elegantly. The 161 runs second wicket partnership braved the hostile and penetrative attack. It was the real flavor of well-coached Sri Lankan batting. However, Mayers coming into the attack late struck double blows removing Fernando (91) and Chandimal (4) in his little spell of 4 overs. When Roach removed cleaned up Thirimanne for 76 a Caribbean surge loomed at Sri Lanka suddenly losing 3 quick wickets for 19 runs. But brave back to the wall bating by DhananJaya de Silva (46*) and Pathun Nisshanka (21*) took Sri Lanka to an assuring state. 153 runs lead with 6 wickets at hand gives hope of getting up 350 or more. But West Indies may also strike back and limit the Sri Lanka to a 250 runs lead reachable lead. Anyway, with twists and turns the test is growing into an intriguing contest. Stay tuned to enjoy.
