Pakistan playing a bit relaxed let Zimbabwe stretch them in match one and shocking them with a brilliant win match two. But in the series decider seriousness returned and Pakistan Won easily by 24 runs. They won the series 2-1. Batting first it was again Mohammad Rizwan the find of this South Africa Zimbabwe tour scored yet another quality innings of unbeaten 91. Babar Azam produced a business as usual 50. Pakistan scored a difficult to scale for Zimbabwe 165/3. Hasan Ali (4/18) bowling ensured that there no more drama. Zimbabwe could score 141/7. Pakistan won the match and won the series 2-1.
Zimbabwe is one of the few countries that responded positively to PCB request for sending team to Pakistan when International cricket returned. Pakistan owed heavily to Zimbabwe. Pakistan wanted to test few options. Not undermining over all brilliant performance of Zimbabwe it may be said Pakistan could record greater win in the series if wanted.
Winning the toss and electing to bat Pakistan innings was built around Rizwan (91) and Babar Azam (50) setting the foundation with 65 runs 2nd wicket partnership. Rizwan staying unbeaten till the end ensured that Pakistan score of 163/3 goes beyond the reach of the home team. Praise must go to new Zimbabwean all rounder Luke Jongwe for again taking all 3 wickets that fell giving away 37 runs.
Pakistan appeared with a strong attack –horses for the courses. Hasan Ali taking 4/18 choked the home team when Madhevere (59) and Marumani (35) producing 65 runs 2nd wicket partnership threatened taking away the match. Zimbabwe Innings was restricted to 141/7. Pakistan won the match by 24 runs. They won the series 2-1. Hasan Ali was adjudged the player of the match and Rizwan the player of the series.
The formidable pace attack of Pakistan comprising of Hasnain, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf and Fahim Ashraf had a great practice of pacey bouncy wickets. Rizwan, man of the series is a great find of the tour. If Pakistan can two three-quality middle and late order batsmen they will be a genuine contender for T20 International world cup. There are some suggestions for bringing veteran Shoaib Malik as one option.
