Bangladesh set 258-run target for Sri Lanka in 1st ODI

Bangladesh have set a 258-run target for the visiting Sri Lanka in the first of a three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital on Sunday. 

Tigers have managed 257 runs for six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs as Mushfiqur Rahim scored highest 84 runs, Mahmudullah 54 and captain Tamim Iqbal earned 52 runs. 

Sri Lankan bowler Dhananjaya de Silva bagged highest three wickets while Dushmantha Chameera, Danushka Gunathilaka, Lakshan Sandakan took one wicket each.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal elected to bat first after winning the toss. 

Both teams will be eyeing a series win to move up the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League table.

There is just one difference in the Bangladesh XI squad as Afif makes the cut, with Mahedi in the bench. Overall, three changes for them from their last game in NZ, with Soumya, Rubel and Mahedi out. 

The next two ODIs are slated to be played on May 25 and 28.

Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal (capt), Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.

Sri Lanka XI: Kusal Perera (capt, wk), Danushka Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya De Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Ashen Bandara, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha Chameera.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh recently played a two-match Test series, which was won by the former. Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh by 209 runs in the second Test, while the first ended in a draw.
