Bangladesh have defeated the visiting Sri Lanka by 33 runs in the first of a three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital on Sunday.
Chasing the 158-run target set by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka lost all wickets to manage 224 runs in 48.1 overs.
Wanindu Hasaranga scored the highest 72 runs while captain Kusal Perera earned 30 runs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged four wickets while Mustafizur Rahman three and Mohammad Saifuddin got two wickets.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal elected to bat first after winning the toss.
Tigers have managed 257 runs for six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs as Mushfiqur Rahim scored highest 84 runs, Mahmudullah 54 and captain Tamim Iqbal earned 52 runs.
Sri Lankan bowler Dhananjaya de Silva bagged highest three wickets while Dushmantha Chameera, Danushka Gunathilaka, Lakshan Sandakan took one wicket each.
However, both teams will be eyeing a series win to move up the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League table.
The next two ODIs are slated to be played on May 25 and 28.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh recently played a two-match Test series, which was won by the former. Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh by 209 runs in the second Test, while the first ended in a draw.
