In rain-affected match on greenish tricky wicket an outstanding innings of Mr. Dependable Bangladesh little master Mushfiqur Rahim (125 in 127 balls) laid the foundation of a historic series win (Bangladesh’s first) against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh with 50 points now leads the points table of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. The third match if played at all will be occasion for Bangladesh consolidating their position at the top.

Credit must be given to brilliant bowling by Chameera (3/44) and Sandkan (3/54) and outstanding fielding by the Sri Lankans.
The inexperienced Sri Lankan innings imploded against top quality Bangladesh bowling. Mustafiz (3/16), Mehedy Miraj (3/28) and Shakib ( 2/38) led the pack. Taskin bowled as concussion substitute of Saifuddin struck on the helmet while batting. None of the Sri Lankans could resist against quality Bangladesh bowling. Rain again interrupted and the match was reduced to 40 overs with Sri Lanka needing an impossible 245 in 40 over by DLS method. They managed scoring 141/9 and lost by 103 runs. Losing the series 0-2 Sri Lanka remained at the bottom of the Super League table.
Bangladesh made two changes. Mosaddeq replaced Mithun and Shoriful had his debut in place of Taskin. Mushfique for his outstanding batting was yet again player of the match.
