Awesome English Lions clinically dispatched Aussie Kangaroos in a thoroughly one-sided match yesterday at Dubai international stadium. Crashing the traditional by 8 wickets England all but ensured its berth in the knock out round.

Batting first Australia was given their own medicine as the batting succumbed to very organized and fit for English pace attack. Huffing and puffing Australia could crawl to 125 all out. England required only 11.4 overs to cruise to their third straight win in as many matches. England would feature in the semifinal from here. Australia has to regroup and win big in their remaining two matches to qualify.  South Africa winning a tight match against Sri Lanka yesterday is breathing on Australia’s shoulder.

An Australia England match anywhere in the world brings Ashes flavor. But the Ashes fever could hardly get intensity as     Australia was reduced to 21/4 very early on having been asked to bat. Warner fell to Woakes scoring only one in the very second over. Jordan caught by Woakes also scoring only one removed Smith. Maxwell (6) was trapped by Woakes soon. Stoinis did not disturb the scorer when Adil Rashid fooled him. In no time Australia was looking down the barrel at 21/4. Captain Flinch was watching with anguish all these happening at the other end.

Australians appeared short of practice for playing against quality bowling. Flinch and Ager tried for resurrecting adding 47 runs in 35 balls, But the depth and diversity of English attack did not let Australia go beyond 125. That was perhaps 30 runs short consider the brilliant form of English batsmen. Only Flinch (44) and Ager (20) out some resistance. Jordan (3/17) , Woakes (2/23) and Tymal Mills (2/23) did most of the damage.

England raced to the target in only 11.4 overs letting off a very strong signal to rest of the teams. Butler smashed unbeaten 71 in only 32 balls striking 5 sixes and 5 fours. Jason Roy scored 22. England cruised to victory in style losing only 2 wickets with 50 balls to spare.

England like Pakistan in-group B booked a berth for the semi finals. It is to be seen now whether Australia or South Africa joins them.

It was bit difficult whom to choose as player of the match. But Jordan got the nod for tormenting Aussies at the top. Unfortunately Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins could not cause any worry for English batsmen on a wicket in which English pacers took 7 of the 10 wickets.
