Protesters are gathering outside Tesla showrooms across the United States and in select European cities, targeting Elon Musk’s controversial involvement in the US government.

The demonstrations are in response to Musk’s leadership of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where critics claim he’s leveraging sensitive data to shut down agencies and cut government spending.

Musk’s vast wealth, largely tied to his Tesla stock, has made him a focal point for those unhappy with his increasing political influence.

The protests, dubbed Tesla Takedown, have been organized by a coalition that includes disillusioned Tesla owners, celebrities like actor John Cusack, and politicians such as Dallas Representative Jasmine Crockett.

Saturday's protests marked a significant escalation, with demonstrators rallying outside all 277 Tesla locations in the US, hoping to disrupt the company’s declining sales.

In Manhattan, between 500 and 1,000 people gathered to call for Musk’s resignation from his government role, spurred by environmentalists from Planet Over Profit, who argue that halting Musk’s influence is essential for democracy.

In London, a small but vocal group of protesters held signs criticizing Musk, drawing comparisons to historical figures like Adolf Hitler, a reference to Musk’s controversial behavior after the inauguration of former President Trump.

One protester even dressed in a Tyrannosaurus rex costume, mocking Musk’s actions with a sign reading “Don’t buy a Swasticar.”

While many protesters are committed to keeping the demonstrations peaceful, some have resorted to more extreme tactics, including setting Tesla cars on fire.

In Germany, seven Tesla vehicles were destroyed in a suspected arson attack, though the connection to the protests remains unclear.

Despite the unrest, Musk appeared unconcerned about Tesla's struggles, reassuring employees that his Model Y would remain the top-selling vehicle globally.
