Starlink has officially commenced its commercial internet services in Bangladesh. Announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 20, the company stated, “Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Bangladesh!”
According to its official website, Starlink is now available in both Bangladesh and Bhutan, expanding its footprint in South Asia.
At launch, two packages are available:
- Starlink Residential at Tk 6,000/month
- Residential Lite at Tk 4,200/month
Both plans offer unlimited data with speeds up to 300 Mbps. A one-time equipment setup fee of Tk 47,000 applies.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, commented on Facebook, “Although expensive, this has created a sustainable alternative for premium customers to access high-quality and high-speed internet services. It also opens doors for businesses, NGOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs in remote areas.”
