Cardiff Inter-School ICT Fair held in city

DHAKA: A two-day Information Communication and Technology (ICT) fair titled ‘Cardiff Inter-School ICT Fair 2014’ was held in city’s Dhanmondi area.

Cardiff International School Dhaka (CISD) arranged the fair on its main campus.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the fair as chief guest on Thursday, a press release said on Saturday.

The fair aimed to provide opportunity to the young ICT enthusiasts to participate, compete and acquire knowledge and hone their skills.



At the fair, the main attraction was Digiclass room concept, gamming competition, robot display, logo
programming contest, SMS context, brain teaser and digital art competition.

Young participants gathered at the digiclass room stall and enjoyed a Hitachi smart board in drawing picture and coloring them with intelligent pen.

Unique Business System Limited (UBS) setup the Hitachi Interactive white board in a bid to advance the digital education across the country.

Addressing the inaugural function, Hasanul Haq Inu said that the young people are the future leaders of the country and ICT is the weapon of its future economy.

So, they should have the proper knowledge and education on ICT, Inu added.

The fair ended on Friday through a colorful closing ceremony. ICT division secretary Shayam Sunder Sikder and IT specialist Mustafa Jabbar attended the function as chief guest and special guest respectively.



Addressing the function, Jabbar emphasized the role of IT in the modern world and urged people for larger scale use of it in building a Digital Bangladesh.

CISD principal GM Nizam Uddin conveyed thanks to the guests and the visitors of the fair.

Students from 20 different English medium schools across the city and some ICT product distributing companies displayed their technology-based projects at the fair.
