Viber blocked in Bangladesh

DHAKA: The government has blocked Viber, the internet-based free voice calling and message services, in Bangladesh due to security reason.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued letters to mobile-phone operators and internet gateway operators to this effect.

A competent source from the BTRC made the disclosure on Sunday afternoon.

Apart from this, the government also blocked Tango, another popular medium of video calling, for the same reason.
