MANAMA: Sri Lanka, Nepal and India are occupying the labour market of Bangladesh in Bahrain due to the closure of visa issuance by the government.
Members of ‘Bangladeshi Samaj’, a Bahrain government affiliated Bangladeshi organisation on science, culture and arts, highlighted their demand while talking to banglanews24.com at its office at Hudaibia area in Manama on Monday night.
President of ‘Bangladeshi Samaj’ Fazlul Karim Bablu said, “Recruitment of manpower from Bangladesh has stopped. Many people may have Visa but those are being cancelled after going to Bangladesh. There are instances that husbands are not being able to come to Bahrain while their wives are still here.”
He urged the government to take initiatives so that Bangladeshi expatriates in Bahrain can get rid of the situation.
The leaders also said the validation time of medical certificates issued to those who want to migrate from Bangladesh is three months.
Highlighting that sometimes the Visa processing takes more time than three months, they demanded to raise the validation date up to six months.
They also demanded the opening of Dhaka-Manama direct flight.
The leaders also thanked Banglanews24.com for publishing the problems and disadvantages of Bangladeshi community living in Bahrain regularly.
