Dhaka: The working people who visit Malaysia from Bangladesh suffer from in-flight nervousness as they find no Bangladeshi among the crew members. With a view to let them have more easy and happy journey on the way to and from Malaysia the popular budget airline AirAsia will recruit Bangladeshi crews for Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur flights.
Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of the Kuala Lumpur based airlines tells Banglanews in an exclusive interview at hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka.
The CEO arrived here on a three-day official visit Wednesday. She joined the official launching of AirAsia flight operations in Dhaka- Kuala Lumpur route on Thursday at the same hotel.
AirAsia Berhad is the third largest budget airline in the world.
Later Aireen Omar met Banglanews at an exclusive interview and talked on existing operations and future plans of the airliner.
Presently AirAsia operates its flights in 129 international routes across the world.
In different world routes we have appointed crews and officials from many different countries. For Bangladesh route we would like to recruit Bangladeshis so that the passengers from Bangladesh will find them more comfortable inside the flights, said Aireen Omar.
“I know many expatriates from Bangladesh to Malaysia are working class people, they are not good in English and feel comfortable to communicate in their own language. So in AirAsia flights they will find their own people to serve them.”
Regarding the launching of flight operations in Dhaka- Kuala Lumpur route she said, back in 2009 we started but had to shut immediately due to some technical reasons. Now we have overcome those and have started our operations here.
The new journey of Air Asia in Bangladesh will be full of joy and enthusiasm, I believe, said the AirAsia CEO.
Bangladesh is now included with one of the biggest Air Network in the world, which is equally important, she said.
This will also help enhance Bangladesh-Malaysia bilateral ties in the fields of socio-economy and culture, Aireen added.
We have a plan to link Bangladesh with most of Air Asian tiers like AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Thiland, AirAsia India, she said.
Mentioning about a range of fare Aireen said, as Bangladesh imposes higher airport tax the fare is little more increased here in comparison to other Asian routes.
We will reduce the fare once the tax will be reduced, she said.
AirAsia plays a vital role in flourishing the tourism sector across world. In Bangladesh we would like to play the same role, said Aireen. This is not only to take Bangladeshis abroad in low costs, but also to bring foreigners to Bangladesh in same low costs is our motto. This will contribute to explore tourism in Bangladesh. Foreigners will visit Bangladesh more and more and enjoy its beauties, she added.
